I'm so sorry we haven't written in so long. I know this blog generates a lot of interest, and we haven't forgotten about it but we've both been really busy lately.
I've worked a few days, on a short film, a commercial, and on a music video tomorrow. Adrianne has worked 2 catering gigs with a Buddhist friend. Also, last night, our area had its World Peace Gongyo at the Los Angeles Friendship Center (LAFC). Adrianne and I gave an experience about the struggles we faced while planning and organizing our wedding, and how overcoming those struggles made us stronger individuals and brought us closer as a couple. It was very moving. People cried. We've been "struggling" to write it for close to 2 weeks now and it felt so good to get it right and share it with everyone.
It's gotten cool here. (I won't say cold. Cold is reserved for Montreal.) It's cloudy more often, and the air is crisp. It feels good. I'm glad the temperature changes a bit. It gives us something to complain about.
We don't have a car yet, but we've fallen in love with the Toyota Matrix rental. We want one. We're returning it tomorrow when we drive our friends Pawel and Clara to the airport. They're going back to Montreal. We're driving Pawel's Jeep back. He's letting us have it while he's gone. But it is a sketchy ride. We still need to find a car so we can drive to Vancouver next weekend for Christmas. We are really chanting for our car to come; to show itself. We want our Kosen Rufu car; our car that will help us to work for World Peace. I know it'll get here. Watch out!
I'm liking L.A. more and more. As we meet more beautiful people and take part in the community, it begins to feel more and more like a home (Don't worry Mom, we're still planning on raising our family in Montreal). But while we're here, it might as well feel good to be here. And as we slowly dress up our apartment, it too begins to feel like a home and feels good to come home to.
I finally met a guy I'd been hearing a lot about, but never meeting. His name is Rob Vroom. He's a cinematographer from Montreal who went to AFI a couple years ago. He helped our friend Pawel get in the same way Pawel will help me get in. I worked with Rob on a commercial for the IRS last week. I met him in the morning when he came to pick me up. He's a really great guy and a pleasure to work with. Most of the jobs I've gotten in L.A. have been through him, even though we'd never met. And the bonus is that he's a Habs fan and his wife bought him the NHL Center Ice package for his TV, so he gets every game! I hope we'll have time to catch a few games and see the Habs fulfill the potential they have. What I'm really hoping for is to be back in Montreal in June to se the Canadiens win the Stanley Cup in their 100th season. Like I predicted they would do 3 years ago. We're having Pawel, Clara, Rob and his wife over for dinner tonight. A little Canadian get-together before we all split up.
I think I'll close it here and maybe write more from Vancouver.
I hope everyone has safe and happy holidays. Don't worry about the "stuff". Just take care of each other and appreciate the abundance you already have. And stay warm!
Adrianne and I love you all so much and we miss you all so much, especially in this joyful season. Please write comments or emails, it feels so good to hear from you!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Dan
