So, we are here and here we are. We are so fortunate, I FEEL all of your support sooo much, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart as it is helping me in times of uncertainty. I have profound moments of WHY AM I HERE!?? And then I listen to my heart and I feel all of you and I know why I am here! And I am so thankful to be here with Dan and I am so amazed at what has happened in a few short weeks.
3 things I would like to elaborate on from Dan's posting,
1. The apartment situation
We are loving staying with Pawel, we love this apartment, this street, this neighbourhood: Los Feliz which means the happy ones! AND we are determined to find an apartment ( a 1 bedroom) that was under $1000 in this area, with a parking place and laundry in the building. Say this to anyone and they will laugh and tell you IMPOSSIBLE. But we are all about making the "impossible" possible. After looking at many apartments, and some even on this street, not being swayed by $1100, $1050...... I was home alone one afternoon, and the manager came by to tell me we have to leave.I was unfazed and unswayed and said kindly that she would have to talk to Pawel, and that we were only here for a few days and that we would be out by the weekend, ( I had no idea, I was simply hoping) and I told her that we are looking for a place...... she said that the people next door ( as in the same building) are leaving on the 15th and we could move in there, I said 1 bedroom? she said yes, I said how much, she said 1100 1150, I said Ohhh , we are really looking for under $1000, she said okay. I looked at her and said we'll take it! I hadn't even seen it, but the moment we walked in to this apartment I loved it and thought (ahh the power of thought!) oh if we could find a place like THIS! So we filled out applications, and we found out there is a parking place and we knew there was laundry and oh yeah there is a pool! She showed us the apartment yesterday and I have been dressing it in my head since, I love it! Another cool thing is, the only thing we would change about this apt. is the carpet and next door has hard wood floors, yes! Ah, the simple things we get used to in Montreal- that are hard to come by out here- hard wood floors.
I know we manifested this apartment through strong prayer and belief that it was out there when everyone was saying it was impossible and I will carry this lesson with me throughout our time here. I am looking forward to creating a home here and to move my bras out of a "Trader Joe's" paper bag. Trader Joe's is a grocery store with great prices, for example, we bought some really good wine there for $3.99!!!!!!!!
2.Cannonball film festival was crazy! The studio that I am with, and have been with in Montreal for the last 5 years, held this 48 hour film festival, where we were thrown in to 7 groups and had a designated writer and director and go! We were all given titles, ours was called "Night People" and we all had the same line that had to be in the script, something like" you know what I think, I think we are all trapped in our private cages, clamped in them, and none of us can get out." So given those 2 things, our film naturally took a dark turn. It was so f*cked up! We shot all night and truly became night people. I was the hero, an actress arriving in Los Angeles, who goes to the house she is supposed to stay at and all kinds of craziness unfolds. It was wild, and I am so glad I did it!
I heard a mantra last week and have taken it on as my own, "DON'T HESITATE!" and so when I heard about this festival, I thought I have to do it, I have to at least ask if there are spots available, "don't hesitate" and so I did, and there were, and I shot a short film within 2 weeks of being here. Yay! Next, ha!
3. Dan has been working too, and I am so proud of him, the video clip he worked on today was through Pawel, someone asked him, and because he is in school, he suggested Dan. The production called him last week asking him if he spoke french- whaaaaaat!? And he then attended a location scouting with the french speaking Director and Director of Photography and the D.O.P was so impressed with Dan that he asked Dan to be his Gaffer. He was promoted!
And tonight I attended a District meting where the theme was " BRING IT ON, challenging our fundamental darkness" and I met a film maker and I said oh cool, my husband is a cinematographer, and she looked at me so excited and said I NEED A CINEMATOGRAPHER!!!
It's all so exciting, and so beautiful how things have moved so far.
It's also very challenging, I battle with myself often, and like I said earlier I just keep moving forward, feeling all of your support, and so overjoyed to read your encouragement at this Blog- thank you Dan for starting this!
I felt frustrated today, and knew I had to take action, and I went to the Samuel French bookstore which is the performer's haven, oh my gosh, I had to stay so focused on what I needed to get, or I would have wanted to buy everything in sight- plays, autobiographies, postcards of famous film moments, everything film, theatre you want! Anyway, so there I am buying my agents in L.A. book, and my how to get a manager guide, whatever, and right next door I see a sign that says OPEN CALL. Terrified, I say to myself DON'T HESITATE, and I walk in! Totally harmless, no one is there, but I walk up to the reception desk, and ask what this is all about. Basically the open call was for me to read for them, and if I passed in their eyes I could attend their workshops with casting directors and agents. So I did a cold read of a scene, and "passed" and am now able to sign up for their workshops, where I get to meet casting directors, and be seen by them and by agents who are looking for new talent to represent. Now, there are no promises of work, they are supposed to be for educational purposes, and to be exposed to what people have to say in the industry, but just looking at the guests for this month, it is very exciting.
Oh the possibility!
ANNNNNNNNDDDDDDDD I am driving! Yes, I am DRIVING! It is the most surreal thing to think, that I just got my driver's license and I could barely have driving time before we came out here and now I am driving, windows down, smog in my hair, on the freeway, on Hollywood Blvd, etc etc etc. Crazy.
Thank goodness for MUSIC, because I don't mind being stuck in traffic ( yet) because I get to listen to my music! Today's favourite song, over and over was Emmylou Harris's Here I am !!!!!
I am off to bed, and up to take ballet in the morning! Yes! I have found the perfect ballet class!
The benefits are all around if we just keep our eyes open long enough!
oh and to friends and family members that I teased that I would chant with Orlando Bloom- one week in to our stay I was at the Center and he walked in and then lead the chanting for a while. Just when I was thinking to myself, am I dreaming big enough, am I really imagining what is possible? So, it was so cool to have put that out there and have it happen so quickly. Now I did also say that we would be chanting on set together, so I still have to make that happen!
I am all about go big or go home, right!? What better place than L.A. to apply that to!? I am challenging myself to just continue to see all of this as the illusion that it is and to have fun, to see that I am the ONLY one or thing that can stand in my way. That I am the only one that will determine my success or failure here.
I send you all huge hugs! I miss you all so much!
Thanks for reading,
off to bed, 'til next time,
love love love,
Adrianne

OHMYLORD.... too many things to respond to with your LONG ASS post.
Since it was later in the post, you're starting a ballet class again??!! giddyup!
Los Felix equals YUM! As well as portions of Silver Lake, and if you find the right neighborhood in Hollywood or W. Hollywood that isn't too actor-central/homo irritating *ALL* the time. You know I heart my actors and mo's, just maybe not when you're trying to sleep at night above the active strips. Like when I was living above the Castro.
I'M SO PROUD YOU SWEETIE! And I very very much look forward to meeting Dan. Now that we're in the same state again finally, let's talk and make some visiting plans.
kisses

Adri,
I an so happy for the both of you. It sounds like things are going just the way you want them to. We LOVE traders joe's too! Are you talking about2 buck chuck? The locals nicknamed it that when it first came out. Because, when it first came out it was only 2.99( they raised the priced due to popularity)and it is from the Charles Shaw Winery.Give my love to Dan.
Love, J
